You Had Me at ‘Chai’…

If you ask me, we can just skip the ‘hello’s’ and ‘hi’s’ and start greating each other with an offering of chai!

There’s something so comforting about chai – whether you drink it hot, enjoying it slow and making it last, or if you get it iced as a treat for a hot day – the combination of rich spices, creamy milk, and strong black tea creates the perfect, flavor-packed beverage!

*Pictured is our signature, house-made chai topped with a delicious, homemade blackberry coldfoam. The blackberry coldfoam is available for a limited time only – try it before it’s gone!

Our signature chai is made from scratch with organic black tea, organic raw cane sugar, milk, and a delightful combination of fresh or dried spices, including cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, black pepper, star anise, and cardamom. The organic black tea and cane sugar means that the plants were grown in a more sustainable and balanced way that works with nature, rather than trying to control it with synthetic chemicals and fertilizers. The caffeine combined with L-Theanine (an amino acid) found in black tea can promote relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety levels while improving focus and mental alertness. Black tea has also been linked to improved heart health and may help to lower blood pressure.

If that’s not enough benefits to get you on board, the spices used in chai also have many potential health benefits! Cinnamon can help lower blood sugar levels, and may lower the risk of heart disease. It is rich in antioxidants and possesses anti-inflamatory properties. Ginger also contains anti-inflamatory properties and can help improve digestion. Nutmeg is a natural pain relief remedy and can improve digestion, cognitive function, and skin health, as well as reduce insomnia. Cloves help regulate blood sugar and promote bone health. Black pepper is rich in antioxidants, improves nutrient absorption, and can aid in weightloss. Star anise is traditionally used for pain relief and to aid digestion. It can promote healthy skin and support respiratory health. And finally, cardomom promotes oral health by freshening breath and fighting bacteria.

While this is a very brief overview of only some of the benefits of chai, hopefully it’s enough to get you intrigued, and maybe push you to do a deep dive to find out what other benefits may come from any one of these ingredients! With this many clean, healthy ingredients, and a flavor this amazing, we don’t think you can go wrong with a delicious chai. Stop in this week and try one for yourself!
